Six ways to start.
A great date-night experience. Both of you learn the basics and do some turning. Not a competition. A lot of fun for both of you.
First class. Three hours at the lathe. We cover the spindle roughing gouge, spindle gouge, and skew. Focus on tool control and basic shape.
- No experience necessary
- 1–2 students per session
- All tools provided
Three sessions, nine hours total. Tools and techniques in session one; door stops in session two; a turned bottle stopper, pizza cutter, ice cream scoop, or cheese plane handle in session three.
Prerequisite: Intro to the Wonderful World
Eighteen hours over six weeks. Turn a platter, your first bowl, and finish with a natural-edge bowl. Skills that transfer directly into the rest of the catalog.
Prerequisite: Exploring Bowls
Hollowing, ornaments, and epoxy. Six sessions, eighteen hours. Pour an epoxy piece, hollow a vessel, and finish with two different methods (CA glue and quick-cure epoxy).
Three sessions focused on the hollowing process. Start on a small piece and work your way up to a larger vessel.
Free for veterans
Veterans Day in the Shop.
Once a month, the shop opens for veterans only. No charge. Bring nothing but yourself. We build community projects together — recent months have been flag boxes for veterans' families.
First class is $105.
Three hours, no subscription, no upsell. You'll know if it's for you.
One or two students per session.
This isn't a workshop floor with twenty lathes. It's you, me, and the work.
Most students cut something usable in the first hour.
Bowl, candlestick, pen. Bring it home.
“What was it when you started? Firewood. What was it when you ended? Depends on you.”
